I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the city of Derry-Londonderry, it feels like ages since I have been to a “big” city. Compared to where I was based in, Derry-Londonderry feels like a modern metropolis, of course this is all relative as I have been to far larger cities than Derry-Londonderry. So far, this is probably the most convenient city to visit given my current circumstances. Since it is a bigger city, it is much easier to find stuff as well. I don’t think this will be the last time I visit this place. It was time to head back and while I was quite happy with the visit. I didn’t know that we would still be visiting another place. From the modern city of Derry-Londonderry, we would visit the Grianan of Aileach.

Ok, this place isn’t exactly the most famous place in the world. In fact, I have never heard of the place either. I am aware that Ireland has already inhabited for thousands of years much like the rest of Europe. I was surprised to know that there are some relics which can be easily visited from the Derry to Letterkenny road. The Grianan of Aileach is one of these places along that road. We just need to turn near a uniquely shaped church along the highway and just follow the road up the mountain. It was a very isolated place as the houses along the road started fading one by one. There were parts of the road which were very narrow that you wonder how two vehicles can pass these parts. Fortunately, we only encountered people, who apparently were going to the same place as we were.
