It has been a very, very hectic two weeks for me. I have been in the midst of the winds of change and it is still ongoing. I will be leaving Singapore for a period of time, and I have been meeting a lot of friends the last couple of days. This day was the my last night in Singapore and I had the night booked by one of my dear friends. I actually haven’t seen her in months and I was excited to meet up with her one more time before I fly off the next day. She ended up choosing this place called Soju Bang which was a Korean restaurant in the Korean alley near Chinatown. I was sure I have seen this place I just wasn’t sure which one it was. Amusingly enough, she was the one who got lost finding the place despite being the one who chose the place.

I was told to go to the restaurant early was there is always a queue in front of it. When I got there, there was no queue yet and I just walked right in. Fortunately, she managed to find the place before I got kicked out for staying too long in the restaurant and not buying anything. Despite our initial plans, we ended up ordering meat to barbeque. We were told that we need to order two meat to be able to grill them ourselves. There were also numerous side dishes to keep us busy while we waited for the meat to cook. The meat seems to be nice and tender, and my friend seemed to have a knack for cooking the meat. It is not everyday that someone else cooks for me! I ended up wolfing down most of the meat here as she doesn’t really eat that much. It was quite tasty as well. I learned to put the meat in lettuce and add sauce and other stuff to eat it the “official” way.

It was nice to eat there and even nicer to eat there with someone who will cook the meat for you. The place wasn’t that big but it was still quiet enough to have a decent conversation. The only downside to this place, and we found out after, was the it doesn’t have good enough ventilation. This was the reason why we initially decided not to have barbeque. The moment we stepped out, we realized that we smell like barbeque. Maybe next time they can have small chimneys to suck the smoke from the barbeque. They do have these in their affiliate restaurant, Ssikek, which is known as a low cost Korean barbeque place with several branches in Singapore.
