It was a relief for me to be finally reaching the top of Shika Snow Mountain. The extremely quiet and almost unsettling cable car ride up to the top of the mountain deposited us at the final cable car station. My first instinct was to take photos of the scenery of the mountain top but there wasn’t any scenery to be seen. The top of the mountain was shrouded in fog and there wasn’t a thing to be seen. Even the view from the top to the bottom of the mountain is likewise impossible to see at that time. Perhaps it was because of the time of the year where clouds perpetually cover the mountaintop.

Then I remembered my other concern, the altitude. I was sure that we were already over 4000 meters above sea level. This was way over what I was used to as I have lived all my life at sea level. Fortunately, for me I seemed to still be okay from the cable car ride which probably brought me another kilometer up from the already high altitude town of Shangrila. However, I was without the oxygen canisters which the local Chinese tourists seem to be bringing along. I didn’t want to take any chances so I took my own sweet time to explore the top of the Shika Snow Mountain. Hopefully, nothing untoward will happen.
