Abandoning Seven Commando Beach

Approaching Ipil Beach at El Nido

Approaching Ipil Beach at El Nido

We found out that Seven Commando Beach was somehow now private and the security personnel was over-zealous in enforcing the no trespassing sign, even extending all the way to the waters fronting “their” property. We obviously know better and we were offering to argue with the security personnel. However, we were also concerned about the effect our arguing would have on the livelihood of our boatman. We guests will come and go, but he will be left here in El Nido and potentially clashing once again with this rather misinformed security personnel. While I don’t agree to leaving the issue hanging like that, since we are in effect admitting that they are correct, majority wins and our boatman decided to move us to a different beach. This really left a very bad taste in my mouth and I don’t really have any good things to say about Seven Commando Beach anymore and I will actively discourage people from going there. I hope that the “owners” of the plot of land realize that this is not really doing their business any favors.

Our boatman decided to bring us to another part of the island. Fortunately, there was nother beach nearby and we be having our swimming there instead. I can’t remember if this beach is private but at least there was no fence there to keep visitors away. The sun was still high up in the sky and we would have a lot of time to be swimming here. At least it wasn’t as hot anymore so we can take our sweet time to soak in the crystal clear waters of this beach. Come to think of it, I guess it was a blessing in disguise of sorts that we were able to change to a different place. Hopefully, the Bacuit Archipelago won’t be sold off as it is protected marine park. I didn’t even know you can sell these places.
