As the Sign Says, No Tresspassing at Seven Commando Beach in El Nido

The Seven Commando Beach was to be our last destination in our island hopping tour. So we have enjoyed the beauty of the islands of the Bacuit Archipelago and our final stop would also be our longest stop. The last time I took the tour, Seven Commando Beach was also the last destination, this is because it is one of the nearest beaches to El Nido town itself. In fact, it should be possible to walk all the way to Seven Commando Beach from the the main town. The waters here in Seven Commando Beach are just as lovely though the beach seems to be far busier now. Our boatman asked us to get off the boat as we arrived at the beach for our swimming. We were getting ready when a person from the beach approached our boatman.

I noticed that part of the beach is fenced out, I figured that this beach was also sold to private entities as well. Anyway, our boatman was told that we were not allowed to park at the beach. What??? Even if the beach was sold, they cannot own the shore, nor do they own the waters fronting “their” property. That remains to be the property of the state. We were furious to find out that this over-zealous security personnel were trying to chase us out. These people do not know any better and are only following orders. Unfortunately, our boatman doesn’t know his rights either and was letting them get their way. We later found out that the fenced out area was owned by a certain congressman in the capital city region. I’m sure if word got out that their security personnel is causing embarrassment to their employers they would soon be forced to change their behavior. I hope it won’t get to that point where we have to name names.
