Leaving Cathedral Cave

It was actually pretty disappointing to be going to a cave and not be able to enter it. There are numerous reasons why cave are not open to the public. Most of which relate to safety while others related to preservation. In our case, we were forbidden to enter the cave because it was not safe in the water. No, there weren’t any sharks in this area, I think, but it was a case of having jellyfish in the water. Our boatman pointed out to a floating jellyfish which I missed and I have heard how painful jellyfish stings can be. I have never experienced it myself nor to I want to. We didn’t get to use our small kayak to go in either, as our boatman didn’t answer my question. Maybe they were in a hurry.

Anyway, Cathedral Cave was a disappointment primarily because I can only see it from the outside. We pulled out of the entrance of the cave as there was another boat waiting for us to leave as well. I would say not to waste your time here or if you really want to, you can try to kayak here and go in the cave yourself. I didn’t see any people doing that though, maybe it wasn’t interesting enough? We were heading off to another island and I think we were almost towards the end of our tour. I suspect this is the part where we will be spending more and more time swimming.
