Nacpan Calitang Twin Beach

My friend dragged me to climb the very well hidden trail off to the side of a small hill facing the sea. I was naturally wary about this trail. There were basically just a path which seemed to have been used a few times. But not used often enough to make a very well marked trail. It was not easy hoisting myself up the “stairs” as there wasn’t much to hold on to. I slung my camera to my back and made my way up. The trail on top is even worse as you can probably go anyway. The grass here is very tall and quite sharp. You would be best advised to tread very slowly in this area as moving too fast will surely cut you. The grass here is very tough so there feel a lot like small knifes waiting to slice you. The vegetation here very thick that you sometimes need to lift you leg high just to get over some patch of grass. Again be very careful of where you tread here as the path to the top if quite narrow, a wrong step would send you plunging down into the sea below.

So why was I doing this again? I was all to photograph what is probably Nacpan’s biggest attraction – the Nacpan Calitang Twin Beach. You would probably know that it got its name from the two villages where it is. The twin beach is actually a portion of Nacpan Beach and Calitang Beach where they meet. It is actually more like a very very short sandbar. The contrasting currents of Calitang Beach and Nacpan Beach piled up sand in this area creating what is now known as the twin beach. In times where the water level was still high, the hill we were standing on might have been an island but for now, it is connected to the mainland of Palawan. The Nacpan Calitang Twin Beach is best viewed from this hill but it is a bit of a pain to climb. Those who brave the danger will be rewarded by sweeping views of the surrounding area.
