Transportation in Nacpan

Jeepney Heading Out of Nacpan

Jeepney Heading Out of Nacpan

I think it needs to be emphasized again. Nacpan is not a very modern village. In fact, when you look at El Nido compared to Nacpan, El Nido can be considered a metropolis. There is no electricity here, yet. The only road out of the village is a dirt road. For this kind of village, life is indeed very slow. Internet is probably unheard of here but somehow there is a 3G mobile signal so I was still able to happily send photos out. As for the people here? They have to contend with local transportation. Incidentally, there isn’t much choice here.

There is a jeepney which takes people out of the village and into El Nido town which is the largest town in the municipality. However, the jeepney only leaves once a day, it seems that was in the afternoon. It is probably the same jeepney which leaves El Nido in the morning, I didn’t see it though. If you didn’t hire a tricycle you will definitely need to take this one out of the village, much, much cheaper than private hire. There is one other more adventurous option, that is by outrigger boat. Most of the people here subsist on fishing. There were numerous outrigger boats parked at the beach. Normally people go out fishing in the early morning. But the time the sun rises, everyone is coming back. It should be possible to take an outrigger boat back to El Nido, you just need pay for the fisherman’s time and the fuel to go back to El Nido and back home to Nacpan.
