Cows on the Beach at Nacpan

It was certainly extremely hot here in Nacpan. The beach here was deserted and there was hardly any shelter here. The coconut trees here weren’t enough to provide shade and there were no resorts where we could seek refuge. Looks like I really got what I wanted. This place is a far cry from party island Boracay in terms of convenience but it can definitely match up to it in terms of raw beauty. It would probably be years before Nacpan is finally developed. And with the pace of development in this part of the country, it would certainly be at least ten years before anything substantial comes out. Pace of development in the Philippines is already at a snail’s pace compared to other countries, this is even more pronounced in the outlying provinces and Palawan is one of the more remote provinces. Add to that the fact that Nacpan is remote even with Palawan standards.

Little One Enjoying the Beach A Little Longer

Little One Enjoying the Beach A Little Longer

We were about halfway the three kilometer long beach when we noticed something rather bizarre. There was a train of cows marching on the beach. They probably came from some farm somewhere and are probably free roaming, returning home only at night. It seems it was really that hot that the cows also decided to go to the beach as well. No, they didn’t really go swimming but they proceeded to the other side of the beach as they were eyeing us warily. The grass is probably greener there. It was fun to see these kinds of sights, sights that you don’t see in more “modern” locations.
