Slivers of Sunlight Hit Taal Lake

Slivers of Sunlight Hit Taal Lake

I have been to Tagaytay numerous times in the past and each time I go here, the place never ceases to remind me how different it is from Manila. Manila as you may know is one of the densest cities on earth, and it is a chaotic mess when compared to other cities in the world. Nothing much has changed in Manila and it seems it might have just gotten worse with more and more people trying to go to the big city in hopes of a better life. Tagaytay on the other has while also a city is nowhere near as crowded as Manila. Part of the blame may lie in that nearby volcano which has a tendency to erupt, so far it hasn’t done that in a while, maybe it might due for one.

Ominous Clouds Looming in Tagaytay

Ominous Clouds Looming in Tagaytay

While Tagaytay is likewise growing, it is still nowhere near the chaos that Manila has. Though signs of it are already showing. Traffic in the major streets of Tagaytay has been commonplace. If you look at the city, it actually has very few major roads and there isn’t a lot of room for expansion. Add the lack of city planning knowhow and you have a recipe for chaos. Already, high rises have sprouted here, on a volcanic ridge of all places. This type of poor enforcement of city zoning will ruin Tagaytay. I expect Tagaytay to be very different the next time I come here.
