One More Try for Roast Goose in Hong Kong

A Serving of Wonderful Roast Goose in Hong Kong

Since this Hong Kong stopover has turned into be one food trip, I decided that I needed to have a fill of one of my all time favorite Hong Kong dishes – Roast Goose. Now roast goose isn’t exactly the healthiest type of food here, the resulting dish is usually very oily and contains a lot of fat. For me, this is what makes it so desirable. The fat gives the roast goose a wonderful texture. The skin is best if it is crispy and it usually doesn’t disappoint. The next layer is the layer of fat, it is best if it is barely there. Finally, the meat should not be tough. As goose meat is tougher than chicken, this might take a little bit of luck.

Waiting at the Restaurant in Hong Kong

Waiting at the Restaurant in Hong Kong

We were hunting for a place to eat roast goose in Central and thought of going to the famous road goose restaurant Yung Kee, we queued for a while but it was too crowded and too expensive as well. We backed off and went to a neighboring restaurant which seemed to be famous as well. Unfortunately, we needed to get back there as there was no more goose on our first visit. The second time was the charm and we got our roast goose. Somehow, it wasn’t as nice as I hoped it would be. Maybe this place wasn’t really as nice as they let on, I guess all restaurants are like that. At least I can leave Hong Kong knowing that I had this.
