The Stone Forest at Yunnan Province in China was every bit as fascinating as I thought it would be. You can say and I love looking at karst as it evokes a certain image of otherworldliness. This is something you don’t see everyday and not a lot of places have this. It is fortunate that Yunnan province has one of the most plentiful karst formation that it has been recognized by UNESCO and elevated a part of this park into the World Heritage site list. I would have to see that this is the most karst I have seen anywhere and despite the huge number of visitors here it was large enough not to feel crowded, certain parts, that is.

In the end, I didn’t spend too much time here in the park, that would have been bad as I would have taken photos of every single karst in the park. My temporary traveling companions, the two Swedes, have transport to catch later in the day and need to get back to Kunming. With travel time taking around two hours, I think it was a good idea as we do not know when the last bus will be leaving nor are we willing to risk taking the last one out as well. With a huge number of tourists here, leaving earlier might be more prudent.
