Small Body of Water Near My Hostel in Kunming 昆明
Although I didn’t really do anything the whole day so far but sit. I was quite tired from half a day of travelling. I was fortunate I didn’t have to spend a lot of time searching for the Kunming Cloudland International Youth Hostel. The hostel feels crowded so I didn’t really feel like hanging out in the common areas. I stayed in my bed for a while but it was hot as there was a power failure, and a highly localized one at that. It seems only our block was affected. I decided to explore the immediate vicinity of the hostel. From the bus I saw some interesting things and thought I would go back for them.
Elderly Folk Dancing the Afternoon Away in Kunming 昆明
The hostel is situated near a small park where a lot of elderly folk love to hang out. This is where they would play cards and whatever games to keep them entertained. I also managed to see a group of people dancing to some music. This brings me back to the time when I visited Chengdu, which by far is still the most charming city I have ever been to. I believe Kunming aspires to be mentioned in the same standing as Chengdu in terms of charm but it has its work cut out for them. There is a small body of water behind the park. I didn’t look very interesting though as it was right smack in the middle of a residential area. The sidewalks had people selling a lot of vegetables and even mushrooms which are unique to Kunming.
