I didn’t find any reason for me to stay in Dali, yes, it was much less stressful than a Lijiang, which a literal maze for most visitors. Though it is probably no longer the backpacker haven which is used to be. It is still quite charming and has its own share of sights around the town. I didn’t get to visit the Erhai as it probably is just another tourist trap where they will ask you take a tourist boat and visit some sights they have there. I needed to move on from Dali Ancient Town. I told front desk that I will be checking out the next day and that I would need transport, they helped to arrange for me and they told me that someone will be passing by the next day.

The next day, my travel buddy was also checking out as he will be continuing his whirlwind tour of China, first learning some kung fu in a nearby temple. As for me, I took the bus which passes by a store outside the ancient town. It is along the main highway and the bus stops outside this store. I wasn’t a real bus station but it served its purpose as there were seats in the store until the bus came. It was your ordinary Chinese tourist bus and fortunately there were indeed seats reserved for passengers getting on. So long Dali!
