Around the Pool at Cang Mountain 苍山

Tempting Fate at the Pool at Cang Mountain 苍山

The pool at Cang Mountain wasn’t especially pretty it but it was there and it seemed to have some sort of Buddhist significance that there was an altar at the center of the pool. Part of the fun of the pool is actually getting near it. There was large stones which serve as, well, stepping stones to get closer to the pool. The problem was the stones weren’t that plentiful and some portions of the path require some skill getting through especially if there is someone coming the other way.

It might be okay if you think that you would just fall in to the pool if you mistep, however, the stone path actually straddles the top of a small waterfall. If you fall on one side, you fall in to the pool. If you fall on the other side, you fall water down into the rocks below. I can’t imagine this to be really safe and I was always taking precautions when walking the steps. Fortunately, there was no accident and all was well. I just hope that maybe they would put some kind of guard rail to ensure no one meets that fate.
