I was thrilled to be able to do some moderate hiking again. My experience with hiking in Chinese mountains is that they are usually very mild as most of the paths here are paved. This is intentional as to avoid danger to the visitors, most especially the elderly. I was glad that this hike is not as epic as the one I did in Huangshan where I had to walk down a very long flight of stairs for five hours. I was already complaining about going down the stairs when some people were walking up the same flight of stairs.

Anyway, this hike promises to be a short and easy one and it is perfect for me. We estimate total walking would be about four hours, I guess just enough to make sure we get back to Dali before dark. Our first stop was a nice little pool which has a small little altar in the middle. I said altar since this seems to be Buddhist in nature and it has some joss sticks as offerings. I am not too sure how to get to the small altar but I think the kayaks off to the side of the pool might be a good bet.
