When I head back to the Yuyuan Hotel at Dali Ancient Town, I was expecting to have the dorm room all to myself but I was surprised to see that there was another backpack in the room. It seems I would have a room mate. As it turns out he was a tourist from Canada who was kind of hopping from city to city in China in a mad rush to see all there is in China, in a seemingly illogical path. He is quite aware of how crazy his plans are but it seems that everything has already been planned. I advised him to just explore one region instead of trying to take on China all in three weeks, considering the size of the country, this will be a tough and expensive task since this will involve a lot of flying.

It seems that it has been ages since I have spoken in English and I was relieved to be finally speaking a language that I was comfortable with. I’m okay with speaking Chinese to a certain extent, but it exhausts me since I have to continuously translate in my mind. I was glad to meet this guy and it seems I would have some company exploring parts of Dali. The next day, we were making our way to the Cangshan Mountains, which I already caught a glimpse of when I visited the Three Pagodas at Chongsheng Temple, they were the mountains right behind the temple, it seems you can go and visit them. We took a cab to the entrance of the mountains so off we go exploring.
