As it turns out, the Wangu Pavilion turns out to be a very new structure, although it didn’t look like it. The pavilion is five stories high sporting Qing architecture. The walls of the pavilion are carved with numerous dragons – 9999 in total. The final one is underneath the roof, you can see it the moment you enter the pavilion. This gives it a total of 10000 dragons giving rise to its name Wangu which means Ten Thousand Old. So, essentially, this is a viewing platform, time to go up!
