The trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge wasn’t particularly exhausting. Although I needed to walk two hours to get to my viewing platform, it was mostly a very gentle slope where I could just walk without any pressure. I think I was more stressed by the difficulty of getting back to Lijiang as there wasn’t any available transportation was this area. Surprisingly, for a major tourist attraction, this place wasn’t easy to get to using public transportation. Ok, getting there is very straightforward, but getting out of the place was difficult. In fact, I had to share my ride back with a fellow tourist just to get back to town. It didn’t help that the driver of the cab was so narrow minded that he considered people from my country thieves and landgrabbers and he hated them with a vengeance, except for their money, of course.

I had a good night’s rest at the hostel in Lijiang and was deciding to explore parts of Lijiang Ancient Town which I haven’t seen yet. Yes, it is that big. I have decided that this will be my last day here in Lijiang ancient town and that it was time to move on to the next town. But for now, it was time for some lunch. I found a nice place to eat by the water. I have been meaning to catch a seat at a place like this and it seems that I was in luck. I found a place to see on the second floor where I can just read a book and people watch. I ordered some erkuai cooked in Sichuan style. It wasn’t a great as it looked as this is basically spicy dough, it might have been better if there was a little meat but not so. Anyway, the view makes up for that and it didn’t get very busy until much later. Leaving me to enjoy my nice cups of tea while I watch Lijiang pass by.
