It was fun getting up close with the raging Yangtze River as it passed through the narrow Tiger Leaping Gorge. The roar of the river is truly remarkable and it gives you an idea of the power of this river. I loved going to the edge of the viewing platform but I was worried for my camera. Water was splashing around and it made the platform wet. I wasn’t sure where the water was coming from since it was also trying to rain at that time. I would try to sneak in a shot every once in a while hoping I didn’t get the camera that wet. I would face away from the wind and suddenly take a shot, I needed to try this several times since it was difficult to take photos in those kinds of conditions.

The viewing platform itself is quite interesting. The edge of the platform is made up of transparent material, much like how it was done in at the Grand Canyon but this is on a much smaller scale. Incidentally, the Grand Canyon has similarities to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, although I would have to say that the Grand Canyon looks more spectacular though I still have to yet see it for myself. The glass portion of the viewing platform wasn’t that wide and the platform wasn’t that high to scare you. However, it does give you a chance to see what is below the platform, which is basically more water. I love the idea of a glass bottom platform, but maybe they should make it bigger.
