Going to the Dragon God Temple 龙神寺

I had to wait around thirty minutes for the rain to stop. I wasn’t exactly in a hurry to get back since I didn’t really have any agenda. I wasn’t exactly looking forward to diving into the sea of humanity that is Lijiang Ancient Town. When the rain did stop, I continued on to my trek. This time there was yet another temple here inside the park. The don’t seem to run out of these places, don’t they? This time it is the Dragon God Temple 龙神寺. Just like the Five Phoenix Pavillion, the Dragon God Temple seemed to be just as small.

I don’t think it would be nice to have a very large temple here in this area since much of Lijiang was already fully built. To get the quiet temple ambience one would have to travel further these days. Fortunately, the Dragon God Temple is one of those temples which still has that touch. Just like the Five Phoenix Pavillion, it is also built in beautiful Ming dynasty aesthetics, at the same time it doesn’t look that old either, I suspect that it was already renovated several times in the past.
