Peony Garden 牡丹苑 at Black Dragon Pool 黑龙潭

As I leave the area of the pavilion at Black Dragon Pool, the park opens up to a totally different area, this part is more forested and it is a welcome change from the rest of the park. Not a lot of people come here to visit the rest of the park, so you feel like you have the place all to yourself. Of course, there will always be the occasional visitor but you know how it is here in China, given the large number of people they have here, it would be great of you don’t have the rest of the town following you.

I came across this place called the Peony Garden 牡丹苑. As you may guess, this is a small garden which has, surprise, peonies. Now, I have heard of this flower numerous times, normally as part of a name of a restaurant, but I never knew what they looked like. The garden as a nice entrance and it feels like you are in a totally different world. Past the entrance is probably what one would notice first. It is a pattern of grass on the ground which it elegantly made. It reminds me of European mazes made out of hedges except that this one is way, way smaller since it is just made of grass. It would be interesting to have a real maze made out of this since the pattern it quite complex.
