Moving on from Shangrila 香格里拉

Foggy Toilet Break

Foggy Toilet Break

Over the years, the chance to travel has been something I have looked forward every year. Depending on the budget, I would try to plan whatever fits within my money and my time. In this case, time is that one which is a little short. Although, Shangrila is a nice little town to hang out in, I needed to move on. I used to dislike moving from one town to another because of the trouble involved in packing my stuff and moving out. But these days, they don’t trouble me as much anymore. I have learned to pack lighter, which makes it much easier for me to move from place to place. I remember how my tiny bag for three weeks compared a friend’s massive one week bag, that was a lesson I have learned over the years.

My bus ride out of Shangrila will take around four hours to the next town. My plan was to start from the furthest location, then slowly work my way back to Kunming. My logic is that if something were to happen like a landslide which would cut off access to certain areas, it would be better if it happened where I would have the time to make it back to Kunming to catch my flight out. My bus wasn’t anything special, this was the same bus terminal which I took to go for Baishuitai. There was a little confusion as to what time my bus was leaving since there wasn’t any electronic sign. I kept asking the ladies at the gate on when I would be allowed to board my bus. Eventually, after a few tries, it was time to board.

The ride was only four hours but it took us through marvellous mountain scenery, it is the type where you wish you could ask the bus to stop to take some photos. Parts of the highway was foggy though, it was so thick that it was quite dangerous to be speeding here. Fortunately, they do have warning signs in these foggy areas. I took some shots when we were at a toilet break. If we would see the surrounding area, it would have been nice.
