Walking Around the Lake at Songzanlin Temple 松赞林寺

The lake at the Songzanlin Temple is a nice touch to the already idyllic Songzanlin Temple. The temple behind serves as a magnificent backdrop to the lake. However, I will still need to get into position. The lake isn’t very small but it wasn’t very large either. I figured that one could go around this lake in an hour. The lake itself is part of the locations where Buddhist rites are held. Similar to mountain are revered in Buddhism and circumnavigated, so is this lake. I didn’t see any monks doing that at the moment. Maybe when the festival comes it would be much more colorful.

Tibetan Prayer Flags Line the Walkway

It is easy to walk around the lake what with the wooden walkway already built for this. I was quite grateful for this since we don’t have to scramble over the vegetation just to walk around the lake. Along the way there were colorful Tibetan prayer flags fluttering about in the breeze. It was a nice moment and made me think that this must be how it feels to be in Tibet. There weren’t any people on the wooden walkway, though it might be because it was threatening to rain. I was already there so I might as well make the most of this place.
