End of the Day at Perhentian Kecil

It was finally the end of the day, our boatman brought us back to Coral Bay where we quickly retreated back to our cottages. Just our luck, we have to climb up a small hill just to get there but no matter. The island hopping tour was a thoroughly fun trip. For someone like me who doesn’t really enjoy activities like this, it was surprisingly refreshing. The sites we snorkeled at weren’t really a lot but we spent enough time in each one of them to enjoy all the marine life in that area. Our boatman was also a professional as he was always looking our for our group. There was this one time when we were snorkeling and I unwittingly joined a different group, our boatman made sure to do a headcounte before leaving and thus discovering my disappearance.

Probably the most gratifying thing about the trip was how he would ask each one of us individually if we saw the turtle, or if we saw the shark. If we did not, he would drag us back and made sure that we saw whatever it was he wanted us to see. Somehow, we end up feeling satisfied after seeing it. The photos he took of us snorkeling were a bonus, sort of a side income for him. He invested quite a sum of money to purchase a digital camera and an underwater casing, not cheap in Malaysia, but it seems to be slowly paying itself off. For the price of MYR 20, the photos may sound quite expensive, especially when you compare them with the tour itself which cost MYR 60. Then again, he has underwater photos and you don’t.

  1. hi steven,

we signed up for the tour at a stall along the beach, i don’t think you would miss them, there are quite a few of them operating tours here and most of them probably go to the same place. we ended up in the foreigner group which was okay since i don’t speak malay. just tell them you are joining for which day and just show up 15 minutes before.

i highly recommend this tour, i normally don’t like joining tours but this one was well worth it.

  2. Haha thanks! why I asked so because his service of photo taking(cdr) is really attractive, shall I ask each stall do you provide underwater taking before joining? LOLo
