Boarding the Ferry at the Kuala Besut Jetty

Queueing Up to Get on our Speedboat

It was finally 2:30 in the afternoon and it was getting crowded at the Kuala Besut Jetty as the number of people waiting for the ferry has ballooned. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait much longer anymore. There was a lot of activity at the restricted area and it seems that they are already preparing for boarding. We had already purchased our tickets from a ticket agent outside the jetty. There seemed to be a fair number of foreigners here while the rest were all local youngsters looking to have a good time. I’m just glad that the number of people here wasn’t mind numbing like China’s. This means there won’t be too many people at the island we will be visiting. This can be seen as a good or a bad thing. Good because it will only be us and the island. Bad might be because the island wasn’t as nice as we thought it was.

Anyway, the gates finally opened and the people quickly swarmed to the gates. We were directed to which ferry to take and found ourselves getting in line for our ferry. The ferry wasn’t really very big either. It was a speedboat which can probably carry something like twenty people. This reminded me of that island hopping tour I took in Phuket which was also using a speedboat. This will be the second time I would ride a speedboat and remembering what kind of rush it was to ride these things. The jetty area was quite crowded with boats, while the waters here were already a nice shade of blue green. Seeing this only made me more excited about the beauty of this island we will be visiting.
