After that three week vacation exploring eastern and northern China, it would be a while before I would be able to afford to go somewhere else. I love travelling as it takes me out of day to day schedule where I can just be with myself. Seeing a different place for weeks is a welcome change from working for a computer with endless interruptions when working – not the good kinds. This is the very reason why I look forward to my breaks, which effectively happen only twice a year. Due to the nature of my job, I sometimes have to work on holidays. This prevented me from enjoying some of my holidays and have made me totally forget about taking any holiday breaks. During the times when I have no budget for travel, I hardly ever go out to see stuff anymore, as nothing new seems to have appeared as of late.

This was the case until my friend persuaded me to attend a convention of some sort which was held at the island resort of Sentosa in Singapore. To be honest, when I first visited Sentosa, I was not impressed and in fact, derided it for feeling “fake”. I have been to several real island resorts but somehow Sentosa lacked a certain amount of charm which can be found in the other islands. Perhaps it was trying a bit too hard? That was almost ten years ago. This time, much of Sentosa has been renovated and improved, I have been there a few times since then and it has indeed changed a lot. Much of it has been converted into an upscale playground, of which the centerpiece is the integrated resort which has a casino. I’m here because of the convention but I took this chance to see what else I can see here.
