I was already getting tired of seeing the same stuff over and over again. Yes, they are all different locations within the Pingyao Ancient City but they practically look the same. I kept running into places I thought I had already been to because they looked so similar. Anyway, this was historical and this was a heritage site so I had to come over and see it for myself. This would probably be one of the last ancient towns I would be visiting in the while so I might as well make the most of it.

It was getting tiring for me just zipping in an out of the must see sights. Fortunately, the tourist crowd was nowhere in sight. I think they tend to follow a certain sequence of sights, so I was probably way ahead of them. Unless you are really unlucky, tourist crowds should not be a problem for you. It was time for lunch and I was walking up and down the main street to see what was on the menu. I was disappointed to see how similar the menus looked like and even the prices were identical. Oh well, I won’t know who was better here so I just went by looks. Chang Yi Feng was the lucky restaurant.

I ordered was was supposed to be a Pingyao specialty, which turned out to be meat balls with rice noodles in soup. It was actually quite tasty and reminds me of mom’s cooking. The restaurant was brightly decorated and it also has seats inside. Like most places this place is also a hotel and I did see a few foreign customers. The price was disappointingly not-cheap and it makes me wonder how to Chinese tourists manage to afford to eat here. Despite seemingly overflowing with competition, the prices of food here seem to be controlled.
