Statue of Confucius in the Confucius Temple 文庙 in Pingyao 平遥
The Main Confucius Temple is by far the largest structure I has seen in Pingyao ancient town. The temple wasn’t unique by any stretch of the imagination though as it is similar in appearance to the other temples which I have been too. I have even been to “the” Confucius Temple so this one was nothing special. Still there is always that feeling of fascination whenever I visit historical structures such as this one. As one would expect of the main Confucius Temple, there was a large statue of the Confucius in the center of the temple, much like an emperor.

The temple itself was very quiet and there weren’t a lot of visitors save for a few monks. I guess I was here quite early and the tour groups still haven’t gathered. Come to think about it. It would not be easy to feel crowded here in Pingyao anyway, since there were multiple “must see” sights here, the tour groups will be spread out over several places. Knowing this, I didn’t have to rush myself to move from place to place.
