It seems that the Confucius Temple in Pingyao temple grounds is much larger than I thought it was. Upon entry, I only saw the exam area and thought that was it. I was mistaken. It seems there was a much larger area on the left side of the entrance. It is here where the main Confucius temple was. It was much larger than it looked from the outside and I would have never imagined that there would be such a large structure here considering how narrow some of the streets of Pingyao were.

The main Confucius Temple is easily the largest structure here and it has the typical Chinese temple architecture found elsewhere. There was small garden right in front of the temple with a Dragon’s Gate in the middle. I assume passing through this gate grants the person luck to any challenges, hopefully pass hopelessly difficult imperial examinations. There were monks romaing around the temple grounds and they were paying their respects to the great teacher. Sometimes, I can’t really distinguish these temples since Confucian Temple is supposedly different from a Buddhist Temple and is different from ta Taoist Temple.
