High Speed Train from Shenyang 沈阳 To Beijing 北京

That encounter with the extorting driver gave Shenyang a bad impression in my mind. The driver was specifically waiting for people who mistakenly go to the Shenyang North Station when they should have gone to the Shenyang East Railway Station. These people are really very low, and to think that the pretend to be helping people. However, I am wise enough to avoid most of these tricks and yet some still fall through the cracks. It will just chalk this one to experience. The most important lesson is, to make sure you know where your train is leaving. In large Chinese cities, it is no uncommon for them to have more than one train station.

Anyway, I managed to make it to my train, saving me from another night’s stay in Shenyang and another ticket to buy. I believe you can refund your ticket for a penalty if you happen to miss a train, so you don’t really lose the entire cost of your ticket. I haven’t tried this but they have dedicated queues for refunds. So much for that, I will be travelling from Shenyang to Beijing via high-speed train. I think I am spoiled by these high speed trains as the comfort is light years apart from what you get in the ordinary trains. The trip from Shenyang to Beijing I was on was the D12 and it costs CNY 207 taking four hours and forty five minutes to get to Beijing. It will be a while before we get there I might as well catch my breath from running all the way from the entrance to the train platform. I could even sleep if I wanted to, I practically have the entire car to myself.
