Walking Along the Yalu River 鸭绿江 Promenade

I found myself wandering towards the Yalu River once again. The previous day, I also found myself walking towards the famous river. I didn’t know much about it, but the fact that North Korea was just across the river really blows my mind. It was just a pity than I couldn’t just step across the border, if only for bragging rights. I arrived at a different part of the river when I got to there. Much like the first spot, there was a promenade area where visitors can walk along the Yalu River and admire the mountains of North Korea.

This time, there was no tour guide to bother me during my visit. Then again, I don’t think this would be a prime spot to find tourists for the Koguryo ruins tour. There wasn’t anything much along the promenade area. I was surprised to see a car driving on the promenade itself as I thought it was purely for pedestrians. Ji’an is a small city, no one would complain, that is until someone gets hurt. I would have loved hang around the promenade but it was drizzling and there wasn’t much shelter around the area. There was a large restaurant but it is already shuttered no doubt from the lack of business in this area. The family owned barbeque places probably have better business here.
