Dinner in Changchun 长春

Dry Wok Potatoes

The tour around the Puppet Emperor’s Palace didn’t really take much time, I guess there was too much history there and I wasn’t really very familiar with the characters involved. I finally got out of the palace grounds and was finding our how to get back to the hotel. There was a bus stop near the palace but it didn’t seem to be in operation. I had to walk further down to the main road to find a bus. Fortunately, there were a lot of buses which pass by the Changchun Railway Station and I quickly went there and got on another bus back to the hotel. This time I really got off where I should have gotten off the first time. I guess I’m really getting used to commuting in China. The sky is quickly darkening so I took a short nap first beofre heading out again for dinner.

I didn’t have to venture very far for dinner. There was a row of restaurants near the hotel and I started walking back and forth again to find out which one I should try this time. So far, I have been lucky with my choices that there weren’t that bad. I decided to try a different one 刘府小灶. I wasn’t sure which cuisine this one was specializing in, they didn’t really advertise either. But it looks like some familiar stuff for me. I ordered potatoes and some home style bean curd. From the moment I saw the potatoes, I realized that it was a mistake to order that. I already have rice with me, and ordering potatoes as a dish will be carbo overload. It was nice anyway, but I didn’t get to finish it as it was just too much carbo.

The home style bean curd, was nothing special either. At least this one was much easier to eat. There weren’t a lot of people eating at the restaurant either. Nothing seemed to stand out from this restaurant anyway, and it is probably another one of your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. The taste wasn’t bad, it was just that it was not extraordinary either.
