Pagoda and Ferris Wheel at Jile Temple 极乐寺

The pagodas around the large statue of Buddha are quite noteworthy. There were ones which seem to be totally made out of metal. It even had little bells which produce sounds whenever there is wind. It was a bit unnerving to hear them as well. I don’t know but this kind of thing creeps me out. The other pagodas were mere ornamental ones to remind visitors that this is indeed a Buddhist temple. The people at the temple don’t seem to mind them anyway.

I was reviewing my photos at of the Jile Temple pagodas, I noticed that one of them had a Ferris Wheel in them. A Ferris Wheel in a Chinese temple? Well, not exactly. The pagoda was in the temple grounds no doubt. But the Ferris Wheel is located at what I think is a theme park behind the temple. I thought was amusing to see such and unlikely combination. It is probably also a reminder of how development in China has somehow run out of control.
