Da Zhi Street can also be called church street since there are three major church all within a block of each other. The Nangang Christian Church in Haerbin is a pretty little church that looks like it belongs in a European countryside. Beside the Nangang Christian Church is another and but more impressive church. However, this one needed some skill to navigate to. The church was fenced off, possibly because of some construction going on. The construction of the Haerbin metro was in full swing and I’m not sure if the church was affected by that. Nangang Christian Church didn’t seem to be affected though. Anyway, the lady at the Nangang Christian Church told me that there was a way behind the church. I found it quite easily, though it felt like I was sneaking in someone else’s property.

The Church of the Protection of the Mother of God in Haerbin goes by many names. Some of them call it the Church of the Intercession and Ukranian Church. The church is an Eastern Orthodox Church following the predominant Russian religions. The design of the church itself is quite unlike any of the churches that I have visited anywhere. The flat domes dominate the roof of the church. It reminded me of a small Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. It wasn’t large at all and I wanted to take a good photo of it but I was too near and can only take a small portion of it at a time because the fence was in the way. The church didn’t seem to be open at that time though, which is a shame. I don’t know how many Eastern Orthodox Christians are here in Haerbin. Christians are already hard to come by with, what more Eastern Orthodox Christians.
