It has been sort of my obsession to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites, whenever I travel I usually plan the entire trip around visiting these sites. China is a great place to visit the World Heritage Sites since there are a lot of them there. Some of them are just one or two hours away from each other making it quite easy to fill in your checklist. Suzhou happens to have a UNESCO World Heritage site, interestingly it wasn the old town of Suzhou but rather the gardens for which it is famous for. I originally wanted to visit it the previous trip but was lazy and didn’t push it through. This time with my friends I finally get to go there.

Colorful Garden in the Humble Administrator's Garden

There are a number of gardens in Suzhou, actually there used to be more of them but the have disappeared over time and only a handful remain to this day. Fortunately, the largest and most impressive of them is still around. The Humble Administrator’s Garden is in the heart of Suzhou’s Old Town and it walking distance from our hostel. The particular garden has been around since the 1500s and it said to be one of the foremost examples of Chinese classical gardens from which a lot of gardens take their inspiration from.
