The Chinese love giving poetic names to the smallest of things. The ponds at the Xiao Ying Zhou are no exception. One of the more importants sights here is the Three Ponds Mirroring The Moon 三潭印月, the Chinese name is much less verbose though. As the name implies the ponds are a great place to watch the moon reflect on these ponds. I actually had trouble visualizing this since I can’t seem to find a place where I can properly view the three ponds all at the same time.

There were a stele which has the name but it didn’t really help much. The ponds here are understandably popular during the Mid-Autumn Festival on which the moon is supposedly the roundest and the most beautiful. I did not visit the island at night so I wasn’t really sure if there were lights here, I seriously doubt there will be electricity here since it is in the middle of the lake. Then again, they might just do it for the sake of tourism.
