Spicy Rabbit Head, Anyone?
After that dinner at a Hangzhou restaurant, we decided to walk off our dinner. There was another pedestrian street which was perpendicular to Hefang Street which was not as popular as Hefang Street itself but it was still a nice walk at night. There were a few shops here too, nothing too interesting though. The street crosses several blocks and you would find yourself taking care to cross the road. This street is part of the heritage trail which goes back to the days when Hangzhou was the capital of the Southern Song dynasty, back then it was still named Lin An 临安.
Stewed Duck Head
We eventually hit the end of the pedestrian street and head back when something crashed into me from behind. It was a kid on a now knocked down bicycle. I don’t know why he was riding a bicycle on a pedestrian street but I was glad to see that he was unhurt. I was apologizing to him and him to me, though I was more worried about him as I wasn’t really affected by the crash at all. I think I got to start losing those kilos.
Snack Street in Hangzhou 杭州
Close to Hefang Street, we chanced upon this snack street which sell all sorts of snacks you can imagine. Most prominently was the stench of stinky tofu which made my friend rush through the street. I purchased some meat on at stick which were labelled as lamb and ostrich. Both didn’t really feel like meat, in fact the didn’t seem to have any meat texture at all. I feel that it was some kind of vegetarian “meat” we bought, but I don’t think I noticed any sign saying so. There were some strange food there, horrifyingly rabbit head and duck head. I didn’t dare try them, more so my friends who were already waiting outside the snack street, already lost their dinner.
