Lunch Break at Shanghai

Food in Hot and Numbing Broth

My friend and I were glad to finish visiting the Shanghai Museum, it was probably one of the most significant museums I was ever visited, it was truly worth visiting, most especially when you consider the entrance fee – nothing. It was free entrance for everyone, just get there early enough since there will be a queue for security. My feet were already sore from just that few hours of walking through the museum. More importantly though, I was already hungry.

There weren’t any eating place in the immediate vicinity of the Shanghai Museum, however there was an underground passageway which leads to an underground shopping center. It was quite extensive and it didn’t really take us much time to find a place to eat. There was this store which was selling stuff on sticks. The stuff will then be dunked in hot and spicy broth for a few minutes before it is ready to be served. I picked out a few of them, mostly tofu and other “safe” stuff. It was actually nice though I’d rather eat in a proper restaurant, I’m sure my friend would agree. Nonetheless, the staff was friendly enough to let me take photos.
