It was almost lunch time in Zhou Zhuang and I was starting to feel quite hungry. I only had dumpling soup for breakfast and I don’t think it was enough for me. As I was walking about the narrow streets of Zhou Zhuang, I can see that there is a lot of food available here. Most interestingly, it is fish and shrimp. As one might expect, the waters around Zhou Zhuang are teeming with these creatures and it is but natural for the people to harvest them.

Although the thought of eating native food attracted me, the look of the waters around the area didn’t really convince me of the hygiene of the food in question. So much more so since food safety is a huge issue in China these days I wouldn’t want to risk getting sick on a trip. Then again, there is no guarantee that the food I get in the restaurants are any cleaner. In the end, I held off until I can find a somewhat better establishment.
