The next day I tried to start early but as usual, it takes me a long time before getting off of bed. The room was quite cool due to the weather outside so I didn’t really feel like going out. However, I needed to make the most of what was left of my trip so head out to the bus terminal. One thing I didn’t like about the my hostel was that it wasn’t really very near a subway stop, I had to walk a few blocks to get there. Anyway, my destination wasn’t very near either as I had to transfer several times to get there. The difference with the Shanghai and Beijing subway system is that the Beijing system is a flat CNY 2 for any two points. In Shanghai you are charged for the distance you traveled.

I got off at one of the stations near the Shanghai Stadium but got hungry to so I looked for something to eat. I then saw this place called Yonghe King which I thought was very familiar. It was a fast food chain known for its soy milk. However, I wanted something hot, so it was dumpling soup for me. The Yonghe King store was very decent and modern. It is fast food service as you expect it to be. Then I remembered why this place was so familiar, Yonghe King is a subsidiary of the Jollibee group in the Philippines, which operates hundreds of fast food joints in the country. Yonghe King is now part of the Jollibee family and is the step of Jollibee to enter the vast Chinese market. It now has over 200 branches across the country.
