The architecture of the houses in Hongcun is the same as the ones I have seen in the ancient town of Xidi and the numerous little villages found in this area of Anhui. The houses are all painted white and the roofs all use black tiles. The incredible homogeneity of the houses here in these villages make it a very picturesque place to visit. Its affinity to water only increases the beauty of the surrounding area.

There were a few houses which are open to visitors and you are free to wander about. The houses are all made of wood with the interiors all different shades of brown. Some houses big enough can have their own temples and altar within the mansions. This type of showiness is quite common in these village. These buildings all have their own names but I have neglected to note them down.
