When we exited the Huangshan gates, there were a few taxi cabs waiting for passengers. We didn’t have a ride home so we needed to find out. The bus ticket to Huangshan only covered going to the mountain. Return will have to be handled separately. We hailed a cab that will take us back to Tangkou 塘口 where we hope to be able to catch a bus going back to Tunxi 屯溪. The cabbie seem friendly enough, and fortunately this time, I don’t have to do the talking. Our Chinese friend was the one doing the negotiating, and I was doing the translating to the others.

The cabbie seemed friendly enough and offered a package which will bring us directly to Tunxi, so we don’t have to worry about transferring. After some computing, we figured that the convenience was worth the extra money over the bus. It wasn’t much more expensive than the bus so we chose to take advantage of his offer. Unfortunately, the taxi driver wasn’t licensed to go to Tunxi so he called a friend who can bring us there. He even asked us if we want to visit some tea place, but we were too tired to care as we just wanted to go back home. The cabbie’s friend was near the tea place waiting for us and we promptly transferred to the new cab.

Everything after was smooth sailing as most of us slept in the cab and waking up when we got to Tunxi. We had a walk in Tunxi to look for some food and ended up in some dumpling place, which was quite disappointing to me as they weren’t that good. We slept until evening and met up again for dinner. We had a Anhui cuisine meal, whose names I don’t really remember. Anhui cuisine is composed mainly of vegetables and mushrooms in keeping with the less than properous nature of the province. We even had a new guy at the table with us, this one a Chinese local from Shanghai. These guys were very friendly and even showed us around their hostel. I still liked ours better though.
