The great sage Confucius 孔子 was a native of Shandong province and he certainly has climbed Mount Tai 泰山. There was even a terrace where he supposedly looked over then Lu State 鲁国. Being one of the most famous sons of Shandong and of China has its privileges since he practically shaped the lives of billions of Chinese across the centuries. Mount Tai has a temple dedicated to the great philosopher Confucius and it is one of the few places which are not Taoist in nature.

Surprisingly, the Confucius Temple looked like any other Chinese temple, I probably couldn’t tell the difference anyway. There was an inner courtyard with a temple housing the image of Confucius, which didn’t look like anything I imagined. I was under the impression that he would look rather grandfatherly if not great grandfatherly but the image housed here looked much younger than that. In China, some people worship Confucius as a saint and I guess it wasn’t difficult to understand why. Since he practically founded a way of life.
