Weather Station and Tower at Mount Tai 泰山
Although Mount Tai isn’t really that high as far as mountains go, it is still the highest place around these parts. As a result, it is the best place to set up a meteorological station is still here. The relatively clearer skies afforded by the the height of the mountain makes it a suitable place. This is not only true for weather stations. Mobile phone companies also set up their cell sites here as it can give excellent line of sight to cell phone towers.

It is also important to know the weather on top of the mountain since it can change drastically. This is critical information for visitors and hikers who may have to spend the night on the mountain. The temperature difference from the ground to the top can vary significantly so it would be best to be prepared for extreme weather changes. Incidentally, I didn’t get to see a sea of clouds in this trip, maybe it wasn’t high enough?
