Last Night in Beijing 北京

Small Lamb Leg 小羊腿

I stayed far longer in Beijing than I expected. This was primarily because of that episode in Chengde where I had to go back there because of lack of affordable accomodations. The last time I went to China, I hardly stayed in one place for more than three days. This results in frequent movement which can be quite tiring. The following day was my time to move on from this city. Beijing can be quite intimidating to the uninitiated but it was surprisingly modern and at the same time old. There were lots of places and things to see in this city and one could easily spend a month in just Beijing alone.

I wanted to have a nice meal at along Ghost street near my hostel, I was looking for some lamb ribs which I simple adore. However, poor me was all alone and it was not practical for me to eat a whole rack all by myself. Lamb leg was another option but I saw the nearby restaurant amusingly called Wolf Nest 狼窝 which serves a decent leg of lamb but it was just too big. I won’t be able to finish it. I settled for regular place which turned out to serve a small version of lamb leg and it was perfect for solo diners. My only regret in leaving Beijing is not having a companion who I could have eaten with. Maybe next time.
