One of the more impressive sights at the Putuozongcheng Temple can be best appreciated by climbing the main building. There is actually a open area in the middle of the building and the area houses the Wanfaguiyi Hall. The Wanfaguiyi Hall could never be missed because of its distinctive golden tiled roof. In the bright sunlight it really makes for an impressive sight. The tiles are circular and the only description I can come up with would be that the look like large golden coins.

The large golden coins are stacked against each other to form a golden roof. The roof also as some Tibetan, Chinese and Buddhist elements incorporated in its design. Since this hall is located at the very center of the most imporant building of the Putuozongcheng Temple, I imagine the most imporant ceremonies are done here. Now, this place is all but abandoned, only the hardy souvenir and refreshments guys hang around here, not to mention some plain clothes security people just to make sure that tourists behave themselves.
