The Main Temple Building of the Putuozongcheng Temple is the most imposing structure in the temple complex. The wall is brick red in color and stands a least six stories high. Although there a places where windows might have been there is a suprising lack of it. I would think that the building itself would be quite dark because of this. I wonder why. At the foot of the temple are a few vendors who hawk Buddhist articles. It was pleasantly surprised by the organization of the vendors that I would sometimes forget that there were there.

There were a few burning areas where sacrifices were made, but this seems to only be a exhibit rather than the real thing. It really does seem to be a dead temple here. It feels more like a museum than a temple. There were stairs which lead to the inside of the main temple building and as expected it was indeed very dark. Not much light gets here since there was a lack of windows. Visitors need to be careful here since it is very easy to lose your footing in the darkness.
