At the End of Jungle Trail 9A

To my relief, what I assumed to be the end of the trail grew closer and closer, vertically that is. However, this means that there is still a long way to go before I finally reach the farm. I needed to go around the mountain on a path that seems to get trickier and trickier by the minute. Once in a while I would meet new obstacles, mostly in the form of a large fallen tree. The trouble with these fallen trees is that they are always wet and slippery, so there is that real danger of slipping down the ravine if you are not very careful.

Most of the path here is already overgrown with vegetation and sometimes it is hard to discern the path at all. Other places the normal path has eroded away and hikers are forced to go by the more dangerous path nearer the edge of the ravine. These paths are not very easy to go through, most of them are wet and slippery. There are not stairs and barely enough footholds for you to climb up. Grabbing on to the plants isn’t that great either since they are mostly small shrubs, at least the ones along the trail. Once I needed to grab onto some deadwood just to get back on the trail since the original one is gone.

Eventually I reached the farm and it was rather uneventful as there was no sign saying that I have completed it. It was a very surprising hike and quite different from what I had expected. The trail doesn’t look as popular as claimed by the Lonely Planet guide, probably only up to the Robinson’s Falls area, anything beyond that is no man’s land. Although I foolishly completed the hike all by myself, it is still best that you get a companion to go with you. If something were to happen, at least someone else can get help.
