Rained Out at MacRitchie Nature Park

Honestly, the Tree Top Walk at MacRitchie Nature Park wasn’t really that impressive. You merely go through the trees on a very narrow bridge. There wasn’t much to see from the bridge either since the trees were quite tall. Although you can see some body of water off the far distance, but other than that it was all green green green. Toward the end of the bridge, I felt some rain fall, the sky didn’t look good and I though it was best if I started to make my way back.

There was a very long flight of stairs going down the hill towards the main trail. As I was walking down the staris, the rain really started pouring. It was a huge rain storm, fortunately, the forest cover was thick enough that it was still okay to walk underneath the trees without getting too wet. I brought my umbrella with me so that was still quite useful. Although there were spots where the tree didn’t cover the ground where I could really get wet.

It was a rather long walk back to the main trail, but fortunately, there was a small shelter at the end of that trail. There was an assortment of nationalities gathered at that shelter, from Singaporean, to Japanese, to Indian. Most of them didn’t have umbrellas like I do, but the rain was heavy enough to discourage me from wandering away from the shelter. Eventually, the rain did stop but my spirit for hiking was already dampened by the rain. Who knows maybe a heaver storm would come if I continue the hike.

Fortunately, the map showed that I was quite near an exit point from the park. To my dismay, it still was a long walk back to the nearest transport out of the place. The paths out of the park were not very convenient and I had to resort to walking on the road, especially with the pouring rain. After around 30 minutes of walking through the pouring rain, I reached civilization and finally the bus stop.

The MacRitchie Nature Park is certainly an interesting place to visit. I would probably do that other half of the hike though. I can probably enter from where I left off and continue to the main entrance. That is if I can find it.
